| If you have an urgent problem that
requires immediate attention, please telephone our office:
(210)
615-6646
After the recorded message, please stay on the
line and the call will be forwarded to an operator. They will ask for your
name, your phone number, and a brief description of the nature of your call. We
are committed to responding promptly to your calls and try to return them
within 30 minutes. Sometimes, the doctor may be involved in a delivery or
surgery when your call comes through, and she may not be able to safely stop
what she is doing. In those cases, it may take up to 60 minutes to respond. If
you have not had a response by then, please call again to ensure that the
answering service has relayed your message or if you think it is an emergency
and that you can't wait, go to your assigned hospital emergency room or labor
and delivery unit.
IMPORTANT: If you have caller ID block on
your phone, please remove it temporarily by clicking *87 on your phone. If
caller ID block remains on your phone, there's a chance the doctor will not be
able to get through.
If you anticipate needing a prescription called
to a pharmacy, please know the phone number of a pharmacy that is open at the
time of your call.
If you need to change an appointment or speak
with our bookkeeping department, please call during office hours. Dr. Hailparn,
or the doctor on call, will not have access to the scheduling book or computer
files. You may leave a message on the answering machine after hours. Call the
main number: (210) 615-6646 and after the recorded message press 1 to be
transferred to voice mail.
Who will answer your call...
Because of our commitment to providing the best
possible health care to our patients, we do not share call with any other
physicians during the weekdays unless Dr. Hailparn has an emergency or is out
of town. "Call" refers to the physician available whenever the office
is closed. We do rotate call responsibility on weekends and holidays with 5
other female OB/GYNs.
About prescriptions...
- Routine prescriptions should be filled during regular office hours.
Since the doctors do not have access to your charts after office hours,
most prescriptions cannot be renewed by phone.
- If absolutely necessary to renew a prescription
by telephone, please have available the number of a pharmacy that is open at
the time of your call. It would be helpful to check on the pharmacy hours
before calling the doctor.
- There may be a charge for after-hours
prescriptions.

Calls
Telephone tree...
We receive a large volume of calls. In an
attempt to handle your calls expeditiously, we have recently instituted an
automated menu system. We hope this will make your calls to our office easier
and more efficient. If you have feedback regarding this, you may respond by
email or phone.
Telephone call vs. office visit?
Some quick questions can be handled over the
phone. However, complicated questions or multiple concerns are best addressed
with an office visit. If you have not been seen by the doctor/nurse
practitioner within the last 12 months, an office visit is generally
required.
